Travel log online

The Daily Parker's underlying software, the Inner Drive Journal, just got a new release that adds two entire epics to the application. First, I've integrated the Journal with the Weather Now gazetteer and Azure Maps to speed up geolocating the various event types in the system. That was also the prerequisite to adding a travel log feature, to keep track of, well, travel.

For example: on the 13th I flew from London to Chicago. The travel logs show up in the Calendar as well. And, with a subtype called "location," I can record where I actually was for periods of time. If you go to today's calendar, for example, you can see that I'm in Chicago.

There were also a bunch of tweaks to the Calendar feature itself, and the new Journey class prompted some refactoring to make all the display functionality a bit more agnostic about what it was displaying.

I also tried expanding Claude's remit to build these features, having Claude Opus 5 write the first drafts of all the stories in each epic, then having Claude Sonnet write the first drafts of the code. I did a bit more hand-editing than I expected, but that's mainly because I was fiddling with the look-and-feel of the app, which takes a lot longer to explain to Claude than just to do it myself.

On the other hand, telling Claude to refactor the View page to handle different types of data objects more abstractly worked a charm.

This might be the biggest update of the app for a while. I have a pretty extensive travel log to import, but automating that will be a challenge. Less challenging will be making a couple more tweaks to the Calendar for clarity. This latest update puts the day's events above ongoing events, but I realize that some events are more important than others and need priority in the list. I'll think about that for a while before specking it out. (I also have some paid work that takes precedence.)
